Jay Gill – Lead Author
Jay Gill is the lead author and a co-owner of Nitty Gritty Startups. He is an experienced business leader, entrepreneur, and attorney with over 30 years of experience across diverse industries and roles. Additional authors and contributors will be added from time to time.
Jay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Law from the University College of Wales, a Diploma in Law from City University London, and qualified as a Barrister after completing the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, London. He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 1988.
After starting his career in investment banking and corporate finance in the 1980s, Jay relocated to Hong Kong where he served as Group Executive Director, General Manager and Legal Counsel for an energy company. In this role, he oversaw the company’s operations and expansion into oil production and gas in the People’s Republic of China.
In the 1990s, Jay founded a business group in Australia that acquired and operated companies across industries including retail, manufacturing, and construction. As Managing Director, he was responsible for all major business functions.
Over the next two decades, Jay has been the founder and/or co-founder of multiple startups in the beauty, oil filtration, and legal services industries in various countries. He has extensive experience in business strategy, product development, operations, marketing, team building, and raising capital.
Currently, Jay is the Managing Partner of a boutique corporate and commercial law consultancy based in London. He continues to provide freelance legal and business services drawing from his diverse professional background. You can view his profile at Upwork.
